What is the NSW Home Energy Saver loan?

The Home Energy Saver loan is a NSW Government funded finance option designed to help eligible households purchase approved energy saving upgrades. Brighte delivers and manages the loan, while approved suppliers complete the installation.

Yes. Approved reverse cycle air conditioning is included as an eligible energy saving upgrade. The selected system and installation must meet the program’s requirements.

You may be eligible if you own a property located in NSW as an owner occupier or landlord, your household’s total taxable income does not exceed $210,000 per year, you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, the property is not social housing or used for short stay accommodation, and you meet Brighte’s credit assessment requirements. All applications remain subject to Brighte’s assessment and approval.

No. This is a loan that must be repaid. It has a 0% interest rate, and you repay the amount you borrow over the agreed term. The NSW Government is also introducing separate Home Energy Saver discounts for eligible households. If you want to use a discount and loan for the same purchase, the NSW Government recommends applying for the discount first once discount applications open.

Eligible customers may apply to borrow between $2,000 and $15,000. If your project costs more than the approved loan amount, you will need to pay the difference.

Yes. Brighte advises that you can repay the loan early at any time without an early repayment fee.

There is no establishment fee, weekly account keeping fee or introducer fee. A late payment fee of $4.99 may apply if you miss a repayment, capped at $49.90 per year.

No. Frostbyte supplies and installs the eligible reverse cycle air conditioning system. Brighte is responsible for assessing applications, approving credit, providing the loan and managing repayments.

After the work has been completed and confirmed, Brighte pays the approved installer directly.

No. The Home Energy Saver loan is available to eligible property owners, including owner occupiers and landlords. Renters may qualify for separate Home Energy Saver discounts when those applications open, subject to the program’s requirements and their landlord’s approval.
